Quoting the developers, Walltrix is a "visual search engine" that works both as a desktop and a web browser - a system that allows us to search for files and content on our computer and the web and handle them in a totally visual and intuitive way. Resembling a web browser with tabs, Walltrix introduces the concept of ‘walls’, virtual galleries where we can add and arrange files at will, and have total control over them.

Searching can be done from the main window or from the search bar that stays in the system tray; both put all the popular search engines and websites (Google, Yahoo!, YouTube, etc.) at our disposal. The search can be narrowed to certain file types (video, audio, images, documents), file size, or date. The results will be displayed on a new wall where we can see a windowed or full-screen preview of the files, no matter if they are text documents, videos, music files, or images. From there, we can perform the operations we commonly do in any file browser, for example, we can edit an item's name and information, open it with its associated program, rotate it if it is an image, and so on. We can also remove the files we do not need, and pick some files and save them to a new wall with a customized name. It is also possible to move and arrange files freely to create customized walls dragging and dropping files from another file browser. Using the Walltrix integrated media player, we can also watch videos and listen to music files without opening other applications. more
